Doro-Zome Collection 2026
A Collection Blending Tradition and Modernity
The series featuring the traditional “doro-zome” dyeing technique of Amami Oshima, which was well-received last year, is making a comeback with new items.
Using habutae silk as a base, we have incorporated the doro-zome technique used in the production of Oshima Tsumugi and developed items with our own unique twist.
The doro-zome technique, preserved for the modern era by “Bingo Dyeing,” involves dyeing the yarn with an extract from the Tachi tree (Caryopteris) and then immersing it in muddy fields to create a deep black-brown hue.
This process imparts a unique luster and texture to the fabric while enhancing its durability. By weaving in natural elements such as minerals and organic matter found in the soil, the fabric itself embodies a connection to nature.
Carefully crafted by hand by artisans, each item is truly one-of-a-kind.
We invite you to discover this unique collection where Japanese tradition meets contemporary sensibility.
